The 3D Printer Experience
The Project
The 3D Printer Experience is a 3D Printing retail shop in downtown Chicago, IL. I was brought in to manage graphic design and digital marketing. Through my experience with others on the team, I began designing 3D Models, consulting with clients, and eventually running the retail operations.

The first of it’s kind
Founded in 2013, The 3D Printer Experience merges additive manufacturing with retail to give the public a hands-on look into the newly emerging technology of Consumer 3D Printing. We combined education, novelty, and professional services into a physical location with no barriers; creating an immersive experience for our visitors.

The service business
We hired some of the strongest 3D Modelers and designers to consult with companies such as McDonald’s, Leo Burnett, and Coca-Cola to develop rapid prototypes for new products. Our consulting process started with sketching and 2D prototypes to quickly hone in on the product specs. We then followed with full 3D rendering, 3D printing, and finishes such as paint and decals.
The retail shop
Located in River North in Downtown Chicago, The 3D Printer Experience attracted a plethora of foot traffic. We began the customer experience by scanning visitors on a 360 platform and showed them how their scan would be outputted to a 3D printer. The retail shop was stocked with 3D Printed items for sale, hosted corporate events, provided technical support, and machine sales.
